Development of small business: modern realities and new directions for public policy

Abstract. In the article the intrinsic characteristics and features of small business are generalized. The attention is concentrated at the new realities of small business development that occurred in post-crisis period in Ukraine. The preconditions for steady growth of this kind of business and basis of its state support are allocated. The directions of the state policy for the small business development in Ukraine are proposed. They are related to the formation of local support systems for small businesses, improving of the entrepreneurial culture, emerging of its new forms and kinds. These approaches will allow to determine the course of actions which should be carried out for additional stimulation of economic activity by the government.
