Conceptual approaches to personnel development

Abstract. This article defines the concept of professional development, introduces an integrated professional development model and analyzes key professional development strategies. Specifically, it evaluates systemic, processing and cultural approaches to professional development. It also recommends a new complex approach to professional development which takes into account all areas of professional development and is more comprehensive and specific as compared to the existing ones. The article also proposes a universal and structured process of professional development with emphasis on employee’s skills. Finally, it establishes a clear correlation between the professional development and organizational culture, company’s values in particular.
