The assessment of the impact of small and medium-sized enterprises on the manufacturing sector in Taiwan and Latvia: a comparative analysis

Abstract. The authors make a comparative analysis of two countries – Taiwan and Latvia, assessing the role of small and medium-sized businesses in the economies of both states. Special attention is focused on the industrial sector and the participation of SMEs in it. A number of small and medium-sized businesses registered in both countries are analysed with regard to the number of employees and the turnover of SMEs. The authors show the impact of SMEs on the whole economy of Taiwan and Latvia.
