Fisheries of Ukraine as the part of world’s fisheries complex: tendencies, difficulties, prospects

Abstract. Due to the real threat of food crisis and the necessity of ensuring the Earth population the food security, the development of the economic agro-industrial sector comprising the fisheries which, has the high food potential is the top priority issue. Identified trends of World’s and Ukrainian fisheries make it possible to show the prospects of its development in appropriate directions of fishery activities (fishing and aquaculture). The main problem of sea fishing is proved to be an exhausted usage of the World Ocean bioresources. At the same time, the aquaculture itself has substantial reserves of production volume growth. Main difficulties in the development of Ukrainian fishery as an entity with a high export potential ensuring the food security are concealed in political and macroeconomic areas. Their resolving requires at first the political will of state authority as well as formation of effective mechanism of fishing enterprises controlling with some components of governmental support and regulation.
